The upcoming remake of Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs now has a poster, and it's...pretty much the same as the original's iconic poster. You'd think the filmmakers would want to avoid direct comparisons to such a revered film as much as possible, but then again, you'd think they'd avoid doing a cheesy Photoshop paste job of Alexander Skarsgard in James Marsden's broken lens. (If it's broken, why is there a reflection? Oh well.) We'll see on September 16 whether the film itself is also a hollow imitation of the original.

Casting for World War Z, the big-screen adaptation of the 2006 novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War is taking shape nicely. With Brad Pitt long attached to star, Matthew Fox (Lost) and Ed Harris (Needful Things) have reportedly been added to the $125 million production about a realistic yet fictional (Does that need to be said?) global conflict against a zombie menace.

Fall Down Dead is a serial killer thriller starring Dominique Swain and Udo Kier that was filmed way back in 2007 but is just now being released on DVD because, well, it’s pretty bad. But I suppose if you want to see that late David Carradine in one of his final roles, here you go. Consider yourself warned. Read about it in my review of Fall Down Dead.
