Thought the upcoming sequel to Quarantine was going straight to video? Well, think again. It's kind of last-minute news on the distributor's part, but it turns out that Quarantine 2:Terminal is getting a nominal theatrical release in a handful of locations (10, to be exact) starting this Friday, June 17. Check here for a list of theaters, and if you can't make it to those locations, check out these new photos and the trailer. There's no word yet on when the movie will hit home video, but I'd guesstimate August or September.

J.J. Abrams' eagerly anticipated Super 8 easily topped the box office this past weekend with an estimated $37 million, a number that's far from a record amount -- comparable to alien invasion films Cloverfield ($40 million) and Battle: Los Angeles ($36 million) -- but considering Super 8's $45 to $50 million budget is only a third of many summer blockbusters nowadays, it stands to make quite a tidy profit when all is said and done. Last year’s Wolfman remake/reboot was a critical and commercial disappointment, but that apparently isn’t stopping Universal from mining its 1941 werewolf classic for more material. Moviehole is reporting that the studio is preparing a “reboot” that pretty much ignores the 2010 Anthony Hopkins-Benicio Del Toro flick altogether and uses the original movie as the jumping-off point. A previously written script for a sequel is reportedly being adapted as an original film that Moviehole speculates could begin shooting as early as this fall.

If last year was any indication, we can expect zombie photos to slowly leak every week or two until the premiere of The Walking Dead in October...so let the leakage begin! Well, based on this pic, the zombies still look pretty good, despite series creator Frank Darabont's fears about budget cuts.

Great news: the fun backwoods horror spoof Tucker and Dale vs. Evil will finally see the light of day. The story of a couple of hillbillies (Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk) who are mistaken for psycho killers played way back in January 2010 at the Sundance Film Festival, and although it's generated positive reviews (including my own) since then, it's taken until June 2011 for a distributor to pick it up.
