The international trailer for Let Me In, the remake of the Swedish vampire tale Let the Right One In, has leaked online, and it looks good enough to allay fears about what the director of Cloverfield might do to the acclaimed original film. It’s attractive and seems to hew very closely to the Tomas Alfredson original, which could be a good or bad thing, depending on your point of view. Let Me In hits theaters on October 1.

Hostel: Part III Begins Shooting in August

Eli Roth won’t be behind the camera, but Hostel: Part III is reportedly moving full steam ahead, with filming to start this August. Roth, writer and director of the first two films in the series, won’t step into either role this time around, instead serving only as producer.

Is the Paranormal Activity 2 Trailer TOO Scary?

Short answer: no. But that isn't stopping some Cinemark theaters from pulling the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 from its featured spot attached to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. It seems that the theater chain has received some complaints that the trailer is too scary -- never mind the fact that Eclipse features vampires, werewolves, teen sexuality and probably has more explicit violence than both Paranormal Activity movies combined. If ever there was proof that horror fans and Twilight fans are pretty much mutually exclusive, this is it. For its part, Paramount is probably thrilled at the publicity that its movie is TOO SCARY for public consumption.

New Release Dates: Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, I Spit on Your Grave, Devil, Red Riding Hood

Several upcoming theatrical releases have new release dates you can add to your calendar, in chronological order:

• Devil: This M. Night Shyamalan production from the directors of Quarantine will hit theaters on September 17, 2010, almost a full five months earlier than originally scheduled. It’s refreshing to see a movie bumped UP for a change.

This Year’s Paranormal Activity? The Last Exorcism Review

The Last Exorcism won’t open until August 27, but I was lucky enough to see the world premiere  at the LA Film Festival last week. Stylistically, it conjures memories of two of the biggest surprise hits in cinematic history — The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity — and I think that it has the stuff to fall in line with those and become one of the sleeper hits of the summer. Jonny Lee Miller Joins Dexter

On the heels of Julia Stiles being hired for a major role in Season 5 of Dexter, British actor Jonny Lee Miller (Dracula 2000, Mindhunters) has been added to the season’s cast as well. Last seen on American TV as the lead in the TV show Eli Stone, Miller will play…well, who knows? His character, like Stiles’, is being kept under wraps, but it looks like the two will have some connection to each other. Only three months to go to find out what it’s all about…
