New Release Dates: Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, I Spit on Your Grave, Devil, Red Riding Hood

Several upcoming theatrical releases have new release dates you can add to your calendar, in chronological order:

• Devil: This M. Night Shyamalan production from the directors of Quarantine will hit theaters on September 17, 2010, almost a full five months earlier than originally scheduled. It’s refreshing to see a movie bumped UP for a change.
• I Spit on Your Grave: This remake of the infamous ’70s  exploitation film will land — likely in limited release — on October 8, 2010.
• Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark: This remake of a relatively obscure ’70s TV movie about a young girl discovering ominous creatures living in her father’s home will hit theaters on January 21, 2011. It’s produced and co-written by Guillermo del Toro (Mimic, Blade 2, Hellboy) and stars Katie Holmes and Guy Pierce.
• Red Riding Hood: Amanda Seyfried stars in this adaptation of the fairy tale — with werewolves — from director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight). Its release has been moved up from April 22 to March 11, 2011.
