Actress, director and producer Drew Barrymore turns 41 on February 22. Barrymore, the daughter of Hollywood royalty, has been in the spotlight from the time she was a small child, hitting it big as the adorable five-year-old Gertie in Steven Spielberg's 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial . Fans fell in love with the little girl who screamed along with the little alien.

Inspired by the slow-building dread and powerful climactic punch of "The Witch," I was inspired to list 10 horror films that left indelible impressions upon me in the last decade. Note, there are no zombies, cannibals, slashers or other corny crap in this roundup - some of the best, scariest movies herefeature Oscar-winning performances, have something to show us that we hadn't seen before or something to say, or better yet, made me laugh my damn fool head off.

Once-respected Canadian director Atom Egoyan's latest, Remember ends with a "twist" of such stunning bad taste that it retroactively makes the entire film offensive instead of merely dull. I won't spoil it here because I'd rather that if you decide for some reason to sit through this flat, clumsy, daft thriller that you, too, be rewarded with the staggering surprise to come.

February 23 marks two decades since the release of Trainspotting, one of the most iconic titles in British film history. To mark the anniversary, Susan Griffin takes a trip down memory lane to recap on how the movie came about - and what's in store with the sequel The novel, written by Scottish novelist and playwright Irvine Welsh, was inspired by his own experiences in Edinburgh in the Eighties, and told through an array of characters whose worlds intertwine through drug addiction and shared attempts to escape the tedium and squalor of their lives.

Ballymena actor Liam Neeson will be honoured by the Irish Film and Television Academy for his "outstanding contribution to cinema" at the annual IFTA Film & Drama Awards in April. Irish President, Michael D. Higgins, will officially present the Taken star with the award at the Mansion House, Dublin on Saturday 9 April.
