Lee Blakeley, who staged a critically acclaimed version of the piece in Paris in 2011, is returning to the odd Mr. Todd for a lavish production designed to match the grandeur and majesty of San Francisco's War Memorial Opera House. This is a penny dreadful given the luxe treatment.

Near-native Josh Viola, award-winning author of The Bane of Yoto , was frustrated by the commercialization of publishing - so frustrated that he set out to change the way authors are treated by launching Hex Publishers, a local indie press putting out mainstream-quality literature. Now, with the help of co-founder and longtime Colorado resident and bookseller Dean Wyant, Hex Publishers will release its first horror anthology, Nightmares Unhinged , at a party at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, at the Tattered Cover Colfax .

From 1989 to 1996 HBO ran the popular horror anthology series Tales From the Crypt based on the comic of the same name. The series was a massive hit and even stepped away from the series to create albums, spin off series and a cartoon.

While you're fuming about the fact that director Steven Spielberg isn't ruling out a reboot of the classic shark flick Jaws , why not decorate your bathroom with decals featuring moments from the iconic thriller? Ray Wilson, with a little help from Alyssa Scott and Robbie Rane, has created Jaws stickers that essentially turn your bathroom into the resort town of Amity Island. Of course, these aren't the only decals Wilson and company have to offer.

Happy Labor Day, everyone! While most of us enjoy this day off work, playing in the sunshine, we'd like to give a tip of the straw hat to all the moms out there who don't get a holiday from that particular job. We'd also like to give a shout-out to all the movies that make that other kind of labor - childbirth - seem like a horror show we'd never sign up for voluntarily.
