Horror fans are in the midst of a new golden age of haunted house and ghost films, with The Conjuring, Mama, Sinister and the Insidious and Paranormal Activity films mining spooky spirits for box office gold. In that mold comes the low-budget, direct-to-video film An American Ghost Story, which, like Sinister, revolves around a writer who moves into a home that was the site of a murder. New Trailers: I Spit on Your Grave 2, Vampire Academy, Haunter, Devil’s Pass

Fresh off the presses, we've got several new horror/suspense trailers:

  • I Spit on Your Grave 2: The sequel to the 2010 rape-and-revenge flick I Spit on Your Grave heads straight to video on September 24. 
  • Haunter: Abigail Breslin stars in this haunted house pic from the director of Cube and Splice. It gets a limited theatrical release on October 18.
  • Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters: The latest supernatural young adult novel-turned-movie trying to become the next Twilight revolves around a high school for non-sparkly vampires. It lands nationwide on February 14, 2014.
  • Devil's Pass: Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2, Deep Blue Sea) goes the "found footage" route in this film based around the true event of the Dyatlov Pass Incident, in which nine Russian hikers found dead of unknown causes. It's available on demand and in limited theatrical release this Friday.
