Here are trailers for a trio of indie horror movies that might fly under the radar in the coming weeks:
- Bad Milo: This horror comedy features a slew of familiar faces — Ken Marino, Gillian Jacobs, Patrick Warburton, Stephen Root and Peter Stormare — in the story of a man (Marino) who discovers a demon living in his intestinal tract.
- Harold’s Going Stiff: This British mockumentary traces the relationship between a man slowly turning into a zombie and his nurse.
- Abandoned Mine: Alexa Vega stars in the tale of a group of friends who find themselves trapped in a haunted mine.

Under the Bed is something of a throwback to '80s movies like The Gate and Poltergeist featuring suburban kids in peril from supernatural entities. While it has nostalgia working for it, however, there's not a whole lot else to recommend. Read about it in my review of Under the Bed.

There’s been a string of notable horror/suspense casting announcements this week:
- James McAvoy (Wanted, X-Men: First Class) will star in the upcoming Frankenstein as the titular mad doctor, whose assistant Igor will be played by Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. It’s from the writer of Chronicle and the director of Push and will hit theaters on October 17, 2014.

The year was 2011. The horror-comedy Knights of Badassdom, from director Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2), created a great deal of buzz at Comic Con, earning it an impressive writeup in Entertainment Weekly. It seemed destined to be picked up for distribution at any time, but behind-the-scenes wrangling killed any and all momentum. Specifically, producer Wade Bradley reportedly took control from Lynch and edited a whole new cut that has sat on the shelf since then.
