The year was 2011. The horror-comedy Knights of Badassdom, from director Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2), created a great deal of buzz at Comic Con, earning it an impressive writeup in Entertainment Weekly. It seemed destined to be picked up for distribution at any time, but behind-the-scenes wrangling killed any and all momentum. Specifically, producer Wade Bradley reportedly took control from Lynch and edited a whole new cut that has sat on the shelf since then.

August 6:
- Magic Magic: Michael Cera takes a dark turn in this tale of a young American (Juno Temple) stuck on a Chilean island with a bunch of strangers, including Cera's disturbed character.
- A Resurrection: Mischa Barton, Devon Sawa, and the late Michael Clarke Duncan star in the story of a troubled high school student who insists his dead brother will rise from the grave to get revenge on those who were responsible for his death.

In case you're wondering, yes, that is a Gleaming the Cube reference in the title of this post. In Stranded, Christian Slater has more than skateboarding on his mind; he's got an alien life form attacking his moon base as his air supply slowly runs out. Gnarly!
