Casting Notes: James McAvoy in Frankenstein, Abigail Breslin in Maggie, Rosemarie DeWitt in Poltergeist, Michael Vartan in Bates Motel

There’s been a string of notable horror/suspense casting announcements this week:

• James McAvoy (Wanted, X-Men: First Class) will star in the upcoming Frankenstein as the titular mad doctor, whose assistant Igor will be played by Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. It’s from the writer of Chronicle and the director of Push and will hit theaters on October 17, 2014. 
• Abigail Breslin (The Call, Zombieland) will play Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter in Maggie, as he takes her “on a journey to help his daughter come to terms with her infection as she slowly becomes a zombie.” Filming is scheduled to begin this fall.
