Another week, another found footage horror movie -- but this one tackles an intriguing legend: Bigfoot. Is it good enough to fill those "big" shoes? Find out in my review of Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes, available now on demand and on DVD.

A scene from The Last Exorcist Part II.

Great news! No sooner do I speculate on the release date of the sequel to The Last Exorcism — I figured August was a good guess — than word comes that the film will actually hit theaters much earlier, on March 1, 2013. Also newsworthy: the film appears to be titled The Last Exorcism Part II — not the awful Last Exorcism II: The Beginning of the End that it seems will be the title in Europe — and the US distributor will be CBS Films.

Everyone waited patiently for Leatherface
to come out the closet.

There’s less than two months to go until Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D gets all up in your face (it’s 3D, after all), so prepare yourself with a few new photos and yet another poster — the fourth one to date. Let’s hope the movie itself isn’t quite so indecisive.

Anytime I hear someone complain that there aren’t any good horror movies being released anymore, I tell them, “You’re not looking hard enough.” Indeed, most of the best horror flicks released every year don’t play at your local multiplex. They’re shown in a handful of arthouse and independent theaters, they air via video-on-demand services, or they go directly to DVD/Blu-ray. 2012 was a slow year for theatrically released zombie movies, but 2013 seems like it might fix that within the first half of the year, with Warm Bodies (February 1) and World War Z (June 21) each scheduled for wide release. Now, we’ve got our first look at the trailers for both films, and they couldn’t appear farther apart on the zombie spectrum. While the Warm Bodies trailer has a romantic comedy vibe, the World War Z trailer screams big blockbuster action.
