There are some interesting newly announced horror-themed TV projects on the way:

  • NBC is developing a show called Constantine, based on the comics of the same name. Keanu Reeves played the supernatural detective/demon hunter character John Constantine in the 2005 film — based on the Hellblazer comic book series, which ended this year and gave way to another series called Constantine. David Goyer, who’s had plenty of experience writing comic book adaptations (Blade, Batman Begins, Man of Steel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, The Crow: City of Angels, even the horrible David Hasselhoff Nick Fury flick), will pen the script.
  • Bryan Singer, director of X-Men and The Usual Suspects, isn’t letting the failure of his Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane deter him from returning to TV. He’s producing a pilot for SyFy called Creature at Bay that seems to be in the vein of Godzilla and the other vintage Japanese giant monster (“kaiju”) movies of yore — and perhaps hoping to build on the success of this summer’s Pacific Rim, which earned a modest (blockbuster-wise) $100 million in the US but a whopping $300 million in other countries. According to Deadline, the show is “set in the wake of the US military taking down a giant, rampant creature…just off the Northern California coast.”
