This Week in Confusing Evil Dead Sequel News: Evil Dead 4 Would Actually Be Army of Darkness 2; Evil Dead 2 in the Works

Last week, word came that Sam Raimi was contemplating writing another Evil Dead movie, which people logically assumed would be Evil Dead 4, but now his longtime producing partner Rob Tapert has clarified that if it were to happen (and that’s still a big “if”), it would more accurately be Army of Darkness 2. This distinction might seem nitpicky, given Army of Darkness was a sequel to Evil Dead 2, but it actually makes sense, given Army of Darkness‘s time-travel departure from the first two Evil Dead films and the fact that a new Raimi entry would probably want to differentiate itself from the new Evil Dead franchise.
