Texas Chainsaw 3D Cuts Through Box Office Competition

Texas Chainsaw 3D revved up its motor and buzzed to the top of the box office this past weekend, earning an estimated $23 million. That’s less than the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, which opened with $28 million, but given the new film opened in fewer theaters, it’s pretty much on par with that movie. It’s also on par with recent 3-D horror fare like Resident Evil: Retribution, which opened with $21 million, Saw 3D ($22.5 million) and My Bloody Valentine 3D ($21.2 million), while far ahead of duds like Shark Night 3D ($8.4 million) and Silent Hill: Revelation ($8 million).
