Ready for Human Centipede 2?

Those of you who are fans of the cult film of the year (so far) The Human Centipede probably know that the film’s full title is The Human Centipede (First Sequence) — begging the question of what’s the inevitable next “sequence”. Well, director Tom Six has delivered a teaser trailer for the upcoming sequel, dubbed The Human Centipede Part 2 (Full Sequence), which he proclaims will be “the sickest movie of all time”.

Day of the Triffids 3-D Remake on the Way

Well, here’s a horror remake I can get behind, given the fact that I included it on my list of 20 Horror Movies That Should Be Remade last year. The apocalyptic 1962 film The Day of the Triffids (based on the book of the same name) is getting the modern 3-D remake treatment, which will hopefully be put to good use making killer plants scarier than the good-not-great original movie that suffered from mediocre special effects.

TV Movie Highlights of the Week: Halloween II, The Fourth Kind, The Collector

With the Halloween season drawing near, this week witnesses several scary movie premieres:

• Rob Zombie’s Halloween II airs at 10:00 PM ET/PT on Friday, October 1 on Showtime.
• Milla Jovovich stars in the alien abduction flick The Fourth Kind, debuting at 10:00 PM ET/PT on Saturday, October 2 on Cinemax.
• From the Minds behind the Feast films and several of the Saw movies comes The Collector, premiering at 11:00 PM ET/PT on Saturday, October 2 on The Movie Channel.

Bury Yourself in Buried: Buried Movie Review

Although it hits select theaters today, you might not get to see the buried-alive thriller Buried until it gets a wide release on October 8. When you get the chance, though, take it. I can’t guarantee you’ll like it (judging by the audience I was in, it’s pretty polarizing), but it’s a unique experience, the sort of inventive filmmaking you rarely see in a major studio release.

Rob Zombie Gets Witchy with Lords of Salem

After much speculation (including an aborted attempt to remake The Blob), polarizing horror director/musician Rob Zombie has chosen his next project: Lords of Salem. The film, according to Deadline, is “set in contemporary Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches.”

First Look at Saw Creators’ Ghost Story Insidious

Those of you craving a good old-fashioned haunted house movie might get your wish next year — from, of all people, the creators of the Saw franchise. Writer Leigh Whannell and director James Wan have teamed up for their third feature together (following Saw and Dead Silence) for a ghost story titled Insidious that has generated quite the  buzz at the Toronto International Film Festival.
