Long-Delayed Shelter Finally Gets a Release Date…and a New Title: 6 Souls

The Julianne Moore-Jonathan Rhys-Meyers thriller Shelter was released around the world in 2010 and 2011 and was initially slated for release in the US in February 2011, but it’s since languished in Distribution Hell — perhaps because it lacks big bankable stars, perhaps because it’s not full of flashy special effects, perhaps because the studio just didn’t like it. But two years later, The Weinstein Company — or more specifically, its Radius TWC label — has added it to the release slate, under a new, slightly less generic name: 6 Souls. The movie, in which Moore stars as a skeptical psychiatrist who takes on a new patient who challenges her disbelief in multiple personalities, will finally open in a limited number of theaters on April 5 and will be available on demand starting March 1.
