John Cusack to Play Poe for V for Vendetta Director

This is one of the cooler projects I’ve heard of in a while. John Cusack announced on Friday via Twitter that he would be playing legendary 19th century author Edgar Allan Poe in a film titled The Raven. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin), the movie won’t be an adaptation of the Poe poem of the same name, but rather a thriller in which Edgar Allan Poe attempts to stop a serial killer whose murders are based on Poe’s stories. Sounds a bit like Sleepy Hollow without the supernatural element (presumably). Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Ewan McGregor had previously been attached; it’s unsure if either is still in the picture.
