Is Season of the Witch Nicolas Cage’s Newest Craptastic Masterpiece?

Nicolas Cage is a really likable actor, but in recent years, he’s turned into such an over-the-top caricature of himself that it’s hard to take anything he does seriously — due in no small part to roles in silly genre flicks like The Wicker Man, Ghost Rider and Knowing. And if the newly released trailer for his upcoming Season of the Witch is any indication, the guilty pleasure train continueth!

All you really need to know to understand the movie’s craptastic potential is that Cage is playing a 14th century knight (!) assigned to guard a witch and that his only dialogue in the trailer is “The head! Cut off the head!” I can only hope there’s a bear suit involved somewhere. We’ll find out when Season of the Witch hits theaters on March 19, 2010.
