If It’s Black Friday, It Must Be a Chopping Mall Remake

The pace of horror remakes over the past decade has slowed of late, largely because most of the major fright flicks have already been revisited. Thus, when a new remake is announced, it tends to be of more obscure horror movies…like Chopping Mall. Remake rights to the 1986 film — about malfunctioning mall security robots who on a killing spree — have been purchased by Robert Hall, the makeup effects guru-turned-director responsible for the two Laid to Rest movies. As with those films, Hall will write, produce and direct, with shooting set to begin in the spring of 2012.
