Researchers say they can show that brain inflammation from football head trauma may lead to the development of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the devastating degenerative brain disease. And the longer someone plays contact sports, the greater the odds for chronic traumatic encephalopathy , the study authors concluded.

Actors from Westchester and Putnam counties hit the stage Friday for the award-winning musical, The Toxic Avenger, at Irvington Town Hall Theater. The cast features Najee Gabay-Knight of White Plains, Anthony Malchar of Yonkers, Joy Arzaga of Chappaqua, White Plains native and Stormville resident LisaMarie DeSanto, Justin Thomas of Hawthorne, Putnam Valley's Michelle Tendy and Stephanie Viegas of Bronxville.

The 28-year-old singer donned a replica disguise of the one worn by Jim Carrey in the 1994 movie, in which he portrayed the titular character, and a similar suit complete with polka dot tie and his trademark fedora hat to surprise fans. She shared two snaps of herself in costume, one at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, where she performed on Saturday , and another in Dallas, Texas, where she played a show at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday and is due to play tonight .

Actor Val Kilmer has denied he has cancer after his friend and former co-star Michael Douglas claimed he was unwell. Kilmer told fans that Douglas had been "misinformed" about his condition, adding in a post on his official Facebook page that he has not spoken to the star for nearly two years.
