After a fierce bidding war with both studios and independents, Lakeshore Entertainment has acquired the rights to a Peppermint , a female-centric action project that has Pierre Morel, the helmer behind action hit Taken , on board to direct. Chad St. John, a co-writer on the Gerard Butler actioner London Has Fallen , penned the script for the project, which will be produced by Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Richard Wright and Eric Reid.

In 2000, a bizarre and controversial film called "Battle Royale" was released. In the film, dozens of Japanese high school students are forcibly placed on an island, given random weapons, and forced to kill each other until only one person remains.

Shortly after Reservoir Dogs premiered at Sundance back in 1992, reports of its violence immediately started to emerge and almost instantly grew to mythical proportions. Such stories are always good for independent movies, as it shines more light on them, while it also helped that Quentin Tarantino and those behind Reservoir Dogs knew that the film was so much more than its bloodshed.
