"Little Shop of Horrors" exists in that sweet spot where even if one has not watched either the off-Broadway show, the Broadway show or the iconic film, it has a distinct signature style and tone that everyone is familiar with. The campy horror science-fiction comedy inspired by two pulpy sci-fi novels has brought signature villains, songs and iconography into our musical canon.

While there's several influences on filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's potential awards contender "The Shape of Water," none is more obvious than the 1954 Universal monster classic "Creature from the Black Lagoon". That film followed a group of scientists on an expedition in the Amazonian jungle who encounter a prehistoric Gillman, and it boasted some incredible underwater photography for the time.

Harry Dreyfuss, the actor son of "Jaws" star Richard Dreyfuss, has said that he was groped by Kevin Spacey nearly a decade ago when he was 18 years old. "He has no respect for consent," Harry Dreyfuss wrote in a personal essay published Saturday on BuzzFeed News , which first broke "Star Trek: Discovery" actor Anthony Rapp's allegations of sexual misconduct that have led to Spacey's separation in recent days from Netflix, his agency, CAA, and his publicist.

A gem from the Pre-Code days before Hollywood got all priggish about sex and horror, this 1932 adaptation of the 1924 Richard Connell short story features Joel McCrea and Leslie Banks. It also showcases the talents of a number of cast and crew who would go on to turn Merian Cooper's idea of "a giant gorilla on top of the Empire State building" into King Kong a year later.
