Ghostbusters 3 in 2011? With Michael Cera?

Rumors of a third Ghostbusters movie have been floating around for years, but now it appears as close to becoming a reality as ever. That’s because co-writer and co-star Harold Ramis recently divulged plans to shoot the film in the summer of 2010 and release it in 2011 — at least a year earlier than previous estimates. He adds that, given the 25 year span from the first movie, the film will feature “some new young Ghostbusters” in addition to the old guard (Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson).
This, of course, leads one to speculate as to who could play the next generation of Ghostbusters, and one young celeb is ready to step into those ectoplasmic shoes: Michael Cera. In a separate interview, he expressed his excitement at the thought of being in a Ghostbusters movie, having worked with Ramis in this year’s Year One. If Ramis & Co. are indeed going in a youthful direction, they could certainly do a lot worse than Cera. Say, Channing Tatum.
