Scream Factory went deep on urban legends this week with three new releases including a beautifully loaded Collector's Edition of Urban Legend - seriously, the feature length doc on here is aces - and a Blu-ray of its sequel Urban Legends: Final Cut . Fans will be very pleased with both, but the label's triumph this week is their Collector's Edition of Clive Barker's Candyman .

THE WOMAN IN BLACK is a prime example of the power of live theater: relying on evocative language, simple yet effective sound and lighting design, and skilled acting, this two-man gothic thriller easily surpasses any high-budget horror film in its ability to create a communal sense of fear among an audience. When I saw this play at London's Fortune Theatre, where it has been running continuously since 1989, the audience actually screamed in unison at key moments.

It's a debate as old as everyone born in 1993: is The Nightmare Before Christmas a Halloween movie, or does it belong on the holiday-season shelf beside Bad Santa , It's a Wonderful Life , and Here Cumz Santa . Sure Jack Skeleton has a thing for red fleece and synthetic white beards, but he also spends a good chunk of the movie strutting around a place called Halloween Town looking like someone raised on Vincent Price, John Carpenter films, and everything ever recorded by the Misfits.

Legendary film director Nicolas Roeg, whose credits include The Man Who Fell to Earth and Don't Look Now, has died at the age of 90. The London-born star, who also directed hit movies including Walkabout, Castaway, Bad Timing and The Witches, passed away on Friday night, his family has confirmed. His son Nicolas Roeg Junior paid tribute to his, "genuine dad," explaining how, "he just had his 90th birthday in August."
