"What year is this?" That's just one of many looming mysteries destined to haunt franchise diehards after Sunday's mystifying finale. Imagine a Twin Peaks in which Laura Palmer never existed, a world where Dale Cooper was never summoned to sample the world's best cherry pie and hot coffee, a world where the murderous entities of the Black Lodge kept their influence away from the Palmer household, assuming such a household ever existed.

Set to be written and directed by Scott McGehee & David Siegel and produced by Warner Brothers, the film will readapt Golding's book with a cast of girls instead of boys. McGehee tells Deadline their reasoning was to take "the opportunity to tell it in a way it hasn't been told before, with girls rather than boys."
