After the latest shocking attempt to bring a video game to the big screen, with the very poor Assassin's Creed , it feels like it is fair to say that there is never going Hollywood success. However, the fans of the Resident Evil movie franchise may beg to differ, as it is the only real success story to come from a video game adaptation, making a huge amount of money at the box office.

Award-winning comedy icon Mike Myers has come on board to star as Del Close , Myers' mentor and legendary teacher, in the upcoming comedy Del , to be directed by the award-winning Betty Thomas , it was announced today by Covert Media 's CEO Paul Hanson . Hanson and Covert will produce the film alongside Thomas, The Second City 's Diane Alexander, Robert Teitel of State Street Pictures, and Thruline Entertainment's Ron West.

David Gordon Green, the co-creator of HBO's Eastbound & Down and director of movies such as Pineapple Express and Our Brand Is Crisis , will helm a new movie that will have a script co-written by him and frequent collaborator Danny McBride. John Carpenter, the co-creator of the franchise who directed the 1978 original, made the announcement on his Facebook page .

The box-office smash "Fifty Shades of Grey" was a better movie than E.L. James's "Twilight" fan-fiction deserved. The romance novel about an S&M-loving billionaire who falls for a bookworm was replete with cringe-worthy prose, but the adaptation was saved by a good dose of winking.
