"Homicide in Hawaii," an original work by Barb Thompson, of Fort Dodge, is a dinner party that promises to take audiences back to 1939 for a taste of drama. It will be staged Friday and Saturday at the historic Vincent House, 824 Third Ave. S. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a social time, including wine and beer.

Last week , video emerged online that offers some new clues about what happened to Lisa Arlington and her documentary crew, who disappeared in Maryland's Black Hills Forest two years ago. We immediately reached out to the individual that posted the video and, following a brief correspondence through his or her Twitter account , a package was delivered containing artifacts from the Black Hills.

We all need more King Kong in our lives, and rest assured, the big ape isn't going anywhere. We last reported on the six-issue limited series Kong of Skull Island from writer James Asmus and artist Carlos Magno in July, but likely due to strong reviews and sales, publisher Boom! Studios confirmed that it's now been upgraded to an ongoing series that will hopefully last for several years.

There's a point in the new Star Trek 50th Anniversary Blu-ray documentary where filmmaker Nicholas Meyer recalls how the success of his movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan prompted Paramount to offer him the directing job on the sequel. The beloved character of Spock of course was killed in Khan, so when Meyer was told the third film would be about the character's return, the helmer opted out.
