The Elmwood Theater and Fathom Events will present the premiere of Rob Zombie's new film 31 on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. Described by the director as an "old school" horror movie, 31 tells the story of five carnival workers kidnapped the night before Halloween and "forced to fight for their lives against an endless parade of homicidal maniacs."

What is horror? That was the question asked by actor and all around awesome dude Bruce Campbell at the start of his third annual horror film festival. Held in conjunction with the Wizard World Chicago Comicon, it's an event that brings together films from the past and present that try to answer the question in all its varied forms.

I've long known about an early fictional story based on the murders attributed to Jack the Ripper, but only recently read it. The Lodger , by Marie Belloc Lowndes, was published as a short story in January 1911 in McClure's magazine.

The nature and unpredictability of man is scary enough in its own right, especially when it comes to horror movies. Adding some psychotic animal to the mix that doesn't have the capacity to reason, bargain, or feel any mercy for its potential victims is quite terrifying when you look at the realistic scenario as animal attacks are obviously a very real thing.

A true master of horror, Tom Holland is the man behind classics such as Child's Play and Fright Night , and he also wrote one of the very best sequels ever made: Psycho 2 . After a long hiatus, we're very excited to report that Holland, who hasn't directed a feature since 1996's Thinner , is back in the game! As reported by Deadline , Holland will direct the horror film Rock Paper Dead , which was co-penned by original Friday the 13th scribe Victor Miller.
