When David Cronenberg decided to follow up the astonishing Eastern Promises with A Dangerous Method , about Carl Jung's relationship with Freud and one of their shared patients, a few people bemoaned that director's turn toward what they perceived as softer material. Starring Michael Fassbender as Jung, Viggo Mortensen as Freud, and Keira Knightley , in inarguably her best performance to date, as the patient, Sabina Spielrein, A Dangerous Method is a costume drama, but not by any means soft.

There was something about "Pete's Dragon," a quality I couldn't identify at first, something that made it feel different from almost every other big summer movie, and its presence was so subtle that it took a while to figure out what it was: silence. "Pete's Dragon" is David Lowery's remake of the 1977 Walt Disney animated musical about a boy and his best friend: a dragon who can turn invisible.

While " Jurassic Park " fans know him best as Tim Murphy -- the precocious young dinosaur enthusiast who survives the perils of the first park's major malfunction -- Joe Mazzello has grown up quite a bit since his time on Isla Nublar. The 32-year-old actor is following in Steven Spielberg's footsteps and has stepped behind the camera with his directorial debut, "Undrafted."

"Newsies," a 2012 Broadway hit, is part of Wichita Music Theatre's lineup for the 2017 season. The musical is based on Disney's 1992 movie about the 1899 newsboys' labor strike against Pulitzer, Hearst and other newspaper moguls of the day.

The ex-jailbird who gave alleged Charleston mass murderer Dylann Roof a prison beatdown said his attack reminded him of the Alfred Hitchcock classic "Psycho." It was "like in the movies when the girl is in the shower and she gets startled," Dwayne Stafford, 26, told the website Black Collective.
