Claire Hentschker's virtual reality trip through The Shining is even more unsettling than it sounds: thirty minutes of scenes from the movie extruded into 3D, so you can look around in all directions as the camera slowly takes you along. Yet the models are all incomplete, taken as they are from Kubrick's footage, leaving the impression of looking into the Overlook and its surrounds from a timeless, warped, supernatural viewpoint.

As Paramount prepares to relaunch their famous Friday The 13th franchise, there are some key decisions that have to be made. Found footage is no longer a concern, the writers want to cover why Jason Voorhees can get back up after he's been dealt a killing blow, and in a new twist of the tale, his origin will be changing to a certain degree.

House Of Cards actor Reg E Cathey has been filmed rapping in German to promote his new series, Outcast . Cathey, who plays former diner owner Freddy Hayes in House Of Cards , grew up in Germany, where he was in a rap band at school.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was visiting Johannesburg for a sporting event and expo named after him, when he took a trip through a wild animal park on Tuesday. A video clip shows the beast approaching the open-air 4x4 and then running toward it as the action hero screams "s---!" Arnie uploaded a clip of the moment to his YouTube page and took the opportunity to make a statement, writing: "I'm absolutely in awe of these beautiful, strong animals, even though some of us had to change our pants after this.

The usual take on Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket is that the first section, set in Marine Corps basic training at Parris Island, is brilliant, and what follows, during the Tet Offensive in Da Nang and Hue City, is a rambling anticlimax. I'll just say it: this verdict is an esthetic replication of the grand error Full Metal Jacket dramatizes so well, the disconnect between our sheltered assumptions and what happens to them when we enter the uncontrolled world.

This week was a lighter release week than usual, probably because of the Memorial Day weekend. Still, we have reviews for the new star-studded album by the Monkees , who are about to celebrate their 50th anniversary, the newest album by Beth Orton and the latest project from Dum Dum Girls' Dee Dee, who now records synth-pop as Kristin Kontrol.
