This year's fall TV season has a slew of shows that I'm looking forward to, both new and returning, but there's only one that stands atop the heap, and it's got a chainsaw for a hand. Starz announced their order for Ash vs Evil Dead just last year, but it feels like we've been waiting for it since the 14th century.

"The Ballad of Narayama" is a Japanese film of great beauty and elegant artifice, telling a story of startling cruelty. What a space it opens Patrice Leconte's "Monsieur Hire" is a tragedy about loneliness and erotomania, told about two solitary people who have nothing else in common.

The Nightlight Cinema's 'late@nightlight' program invites select audience members, film lovers, and other community cinephiles to curate a series of late night films. Over the past summer, the program included such diverse series as films focused on female-centric horror, films starring Val Kilmer, and coming-of-age films set in 1995, now undergoing their 20th anniversary.

The Scott Pilgrim vs. the World actress will star in the network's upcoming comic thriller BrainDead . The sci-fi drama, which hails from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King , centers on brain-eating aliens who attack Washington, D.C. Winstead will portray Laurel, the daughter of a Democratic political dynasty who left the Capital to become a documentary filmmaker but is pulled back into the family business when her brother, the senate majority whip, needs her help running his senate office.

Alec Baldwin will present the Theordore L. Kesselman Award for the Arts to honor Alan Gilbert at the New York Youth Symphony's 53rd Annual Benefit Gala. Roy Niederhoffer will be presented with the Johanna and Leslie Garfield Award for Arts Philanthropy.

The 59-year-old actress, best known for her roles in A Streetcar Named Desire, Vincent In Brixton, Sweet Bird Of Youth and films such as Hellraiser and The Golden Compass, will play prosecutor Hazel Warren in the BBC One soap. Clare, who has also appeared in Downton Abbey and Doctor Who, said: "I had such a great time at EastEnders.
