"You can't do a slasher movie as a TV series", announces the trailer for MTV's "Scream" -- which aims to do just that. The new TV series updates the formula of the "Scream" movies, 20 years after the ghostfaced killer first taunted Drew Barrymore and carved a trail of death across the big screen.

The 43-year-old Scream star split from his first wife, Friends star Courteney Cox, in 2010 after 11 years of marriage and has been dating Christina, 33, on-and-off since 2011. David and Christina got engaged last year, and according to People have now made things official, with a ceremony in Los Angeles on April 12. They exchanged vows in front of "family and friends", including their 11-month-old son, Charlie West, their two basset hounds and David's 10-year-old daughter Coco from his marriage to Courteney.

MTV is putting on its own version of Wes Craven 's "Scream," and during the 2015 MTV Movie Awards, the network released the first trailer for the series, which also revealed the show's premiere date of June 30. Young stars Willa Fitzgerald, Amy Forsyth, John Karna, Carlson Young and Amadeus Serafini starred on the pilot, which marks the first foray into television for Kevin Williamson's horror franchise. Jamie Travis directed the pilot, which also features Bella Thorne in a new version of the famous Drew Barrymore death scene that launched the film series.
