On Friday, March 13, the Sie FilmCenter will present a special fortieth anniversary screening of Ken Russell's 1975 phantasmagorical musical Tommy . Based on the "rock opera" by The Who, the film was a mind scramble of an adaptation of the band's own wild concert tour for the piece, which told the story of a deaf, mute and blind kid who becomes a pinball wizard and then eventually a cult figure, meeting a variety of wild characters in the process.

Rob Zombie recently wrapped his first day of shooting on his new horror film 31 . The writer and director celebrated the beginning of the shoot by announcing that acclaimed actor Malcolm McDowell is portraying Father Murder, the owner of Murder World in the film.

Horror helmer Eli Roth liked the fake trailer for a non-existent movie called Clown so much that he got in touch with the guys who made it and helped them turn it into a real feature. It's out now on Blu-ray and DVD in the UK, so we caught up with Roth to talk about the movie as well as racist clowns, the forthcoming Cabin Fever remake, and his cannibal flick The Green Inferno , which might finally hit screens very soona Eli Roth: It's hard to think of another movie that started with a trailer, other than the Grindhouse movies.
