In 2010, just before the zombie genre received an adrenaline boost with the massive TV hit known as The Walking Dead , film makers were also trying to find new ways to revitalize the genre as a feature film as well. As was the case with a movie called The Dead , directed by Howard and Jonathan Ford and released by Anchor Bay and Starz Entertainment.

We're a mere 48 days from Halloween, which means you'd better start thinking about who/what you're going to be dressing up as. Mick Taylor perhaps? That creepy little Annabelle doll? Or how about purple and blue Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th NES game?! Unless you've been living in a pineapple under the sea, you've surely noticed that 8-bit Jason is all the rage these days, the character's most bizarre outing experiencing a big time revival over the course of the past year.

If Jack White's video for "Would You Fight for My Love?" isn't a direct homage to The Shining , the Third Man boss has some subliminal Stephen King/Stanley Kubrick vibes swimming around in that neatly coiffed head of his. Directed by Robert Hales, the blue-hued visual for the Lazaretto cut finds White sitting alone in a bar, with members of his backing band lounging in booths nearby, before some freaky stuff starts to happen.

At first, I wasn't sure if The Trip to Italy amounted to more than snapshots of the Italian countryside, mouthwatering plates of pasta, and two Brits' best impressions of Al Pacino and Michael Caine. This "second course" of a sequel to 2010's The Trip follows Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon on a restaurant review trip through Italy, where they take their philandering and drollery just as seriously as their food criticism.

DAVID LYNCH is all over Philly right now. The director behind such cinema classics as "Blue Velvet," "The Elephant Man," "Eraserhead" and the landmark television series "Twin Peaks" is being honored by his alma mater, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Art, with a four-month-long exhibit, and there are screenings happening all over the city.
