<p>Although network TV ratings still exceed cable, they have lost ground over the years, and networks generally haven’t generated the buzz — media coverage, awards, targeted demographic ratings — of cable shows of late. But with its "<em>24</em> meets <em>Silence of the Lambs</em>" setup, <em><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://horror.about.com/od/horrortvshows/a/The-Following-TV-Show.htm">The Following</a></em> has a chance to be that breakout water cooler hit — at least of the midseason TV schedule. <!–more–></p>…<p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://horror.about.com/b/2013/01/16/the-following-savior-of-network-tv.htm">Read Full Post</a></p>

<p><em><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://horror.about.com/od/horrortvshows/a/dexter.htm">Dexter</a></em>’s upcoming eighth season – <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://horror.about.com/b/2011/11/21/dexter-renewed-for-two-more-seasons.htm">presumably its final one</a> — will come early, beginning in the summer instead of its usual fall start date. Rather than the standard late September premiere, Showtime has shifted the serial killer series’ season premiere to June 30. The cable channel’s strategy is to use <em>Dexter</em>’s remaining influence to pair it with a new show, the Liev Schreiber drama <em>Ray Donovan</em>. Likewise, it plans on pairing <em>Dexter</em>’s old partner <em>Homeland</em> — now a behemoth of its own — with another new series, <em>Masters of Sex</em>.</p>…<p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://horror.about.com/b/2013/01/15/dexter-moving-to-summer-for-final-season.htm">Read Full Post</a></p>

<p>It seems like everyone is eagerly anticipating Netflix’s revival of <em>Arrested Development</em> — airing in May — but arriving sooner and more under the radar is <em>Hemlock Grove</em>, a horror series executive produced by <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://horror.about.com/od/horrorfilmmakers/p/eliroth.htm">Eli Roth</a> that will premiere on the streaming service on April 19. And now we have our first look at a <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://youtu.be/rlZUsPcChgI">trailer</a> for the show, whose plot is shrouded in mystery (though not to those who’ve read the book) but which seems to be a small-town werewolf tale. The synopsis reads as follows:</p>…<p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://horror.about.com/b/2013/01/14/first-look-at-netflixs-hemlock-grove.htm">Read Full Post</a></p>

<p>Horror spoof <em><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://horror.about.com/od/upcomingmovie1/a/A-Haunted-House.htm">A Haunted House</a></em> scored an impressive opening this past weekend, earning an estimated $18.8 million and beating more high-profile newcomer <em>Gangster Squad</em>, placing second only to <em>Zero Dark Thirty</em>. This sort of performance on a reported budget of only $2.5 million virtually ensures another Marlon Wayans crap-fest (if not a direct sequel to <em>A Haunted House</em>) in the near future. You brought this on yourself, America.</p>…<p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://horror.about.com/b/2013/01/13/a-haunted-house-places-a-strong-second-at-box-office.htm">Read Full Post</a></p>
