Same movie, less massacre? The film formerly known as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D — conceived as a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original movie — has a new poster, revealing not only a host of Leatherface’s victims, but more importantly, what seems to be a new, more concise title: Texas Chainsaw 3D. I can only imagine this change came about as the result of some focus group and the perceived lack of mainstream appeal of the term “massacre,” but really, how mainstream can a movie about a murdering clan of cannibals who sometimes wear the skinned faces of their victims be?

Even though A&E doesn’t have the original-programming pedigree of, say, AMC (granted, some might think a 24-hour loop of Storage Wars is Nirvana), I had high hopes for Coma, a miniseries with a big-name cast and behind-the-scenes personnel. Sadly, like many remakes, this one disappoints — read about it in my review — but at least you won’t have to spend $11.50 and drive to a theater to see it. It airs starting tonight at 9:oo PM ET/PT and concluding tomorrow (September 4) at the same time.
