If at first you don’t succeed…
Despite ABC canceling the “found footage” series The River after only one season, producer Jason Blum hasn’t taken the rejection to heart — after all, he’s had success in the genre with a little something called Paranormal Activity. Jumping back on the found footage horse, Blum is developing a PA-styled hour-long show for MTV entitled The Experiment. There’s no word on what exactly it’s about (I’ll go out on a limb and say an experiment of some sort.), but it was created by Brian Horiuchi, writer of the 2009 online horror series Circle of Eight, and Miguel Sapochnik, who’s directed episodes of Fringe, Falling Skies and Awake as well as the futuristic Jude Law-Forest Whitaker actioner Repo Men — so it would be well within their comfort zone to go the sci fi-horror route.

The ghostly 1820 tale by Washington Irving has been adapted for film and television numerous times -- the most notable recent version being Tim Burton's 1999 horror comedy Sleepy Hollow -- but unlike most previous versions, Fox has reportedly ordered a pilot based on the story that takes place in the present day. If you're feeling apprehensive about the concept -- Will the Headless Horseman now be a Headless Segway Man? -- maybe the fact that Fringe co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Ocri are the brains behind the operation will help ease your fears.

In Meeting Evil — out this week on home video — Samuel L. Jackson is evil, and Luke Wilson meets him. Bad things ensue. While the movie doesn’t live up to its star power, it might be worth a rental, especially if you like seeing Sam Jackson being a bad mo’fo. Read about it in my review of Meeting Evil.

American Horror Story‘s decision to enter the Emmy race as a miniseries seems pretty smart right about now. That’s because the spooky anthology TV series (featuring different casts, characters, settings, storylines, etc. each season) has nabbed a whopping 17 nominations — including:
