Non-horror fans probably think that all horror fans want in a movie is buckets of blood and guts, but as the direct-to-video slasher Sweatshop shows, that's not the case. It has strong gore scenes -- courtesy of the killer's humongous weapon of choice, a hammer that would put Thor's to shame -- but the splattery mayhem can't make up for the weak acting, shoddy writing, annoying characters and ineffective direction. Although it's not a horror movie, Contagion has a similar lasting effect; just as Jaws made people avoid the ocean, Contagion might make you think twice about shaking hands, touching your face or standing near anyone who sneezes.
