On the heels of the success of Teen Wolf, MTV returns tonight to the supernatural realm with Death Valley, a show about a camera crew following a police force, Cops-style, in a world in which zombies, vampires and werewolves roam the San Fernando Valley in Southern California. Like, gag me with a spoon. Check out the trailer and some photos before the show debuts tonight at 10:30 PM ET/PT on MTV.

For the second straight week, a major horror movie remake that has garnered good reviews (at least, horror-wise) has failed to parlay that acclaim into significant box office returns. Last week, Fright Night tanked, and this past weekend, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark fared only slightly better, earning an estimated $8.7 million. On the bright side, that total is about $1 million more than Fright Night with a smaller theater count and without the benefit of inflated 3-D ticket prices. Final numbers are due Tuesday.

Lucky McKee's The Woman, the sequel to The Offspring (both based on Jack Ketchum books) about a man's attempt to keep a wild cannibal woman captive, now has a release date from the Bloody Disgusting Selects series: October 14. The film caused a bit of a stir at Sundance this year, but despite the disturbing content, the new trailer shows quite a flair for quirky dark humor. For my money, McKee (May, Red, The Woods) has yet to miss, so I'm certainly looking forward to what he has to offer this time around.
