Just a day after Final Destination 5‘s release was moved up two weeks to August 12 — perhaps due to Apollo 18 suddenly staking out the August 26 date — FilmDistrict has decided to move its Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark remake into FD5‘s vacated slot, preferring to go head-to-head with Apollo 18 rather than the established Final Destination franchise.

A lot of us were taken aback when, less than a month before it was set to hit theaters, “found footage” horror film Apollo 18 was abruptly bumped all the way back to January 2012. Now, The Weinstein Company has moved it back to a more reasonable time slot in the traditionally genre-friendly late summer: August 26, 2011.

About a week after being picked up for distribution by Relativity Media, the long-awaited House at the End of the Street has been officially added to the studio’s 2012 release slate. The thriller, which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Elisabeth Shue, Max Thieriot and Gil Bellows, will hit screens on February 3, 2012. It joins Ghost Rider 2 and The Devil Inside as the major genre releases for that month so far.

Who doesn’t love a good evil Santa movie? The only thing is that there have been so few actual “good” ones. However, the Dutch film Saint (AKA Sint) is out to change that, and it’s coming stateside, thanks to IFC Midnight, which has purchased the US distribution rights.
