Next Alien Movie to Be in 3-D?

It appears that even old standards like Alien are jumping on the 3-D bandwagon. A recent interview with the previously announced Alien prequel’s art director Roger Christian reveals that the plan is to shoot it in 3-D. My only hope that we won’t be bombarded with shots of alien jaws snapping directly into the camera is that Ridley Scott will be directing and will hopefully play down the gimmick factor. I’m afraid, though, that it will take a big-budget 3-D bomb to convince the studios that not EVERY movie has to use that technology.

New Poster and Trailer for After.Life

The supernatural thriller After.Life, which has gone from starring Kate Bosworth (see the horrible early poster) to Christina Ricci and from a presumed major theatrical release to a limited one (starting April 9), now has a nifty new poster and an official trailer, which looks decent enough, but you have to wonder it lives up to the star power, which includes Liam Neeson and Justin Long.

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Possession Finally Gets a Release

A year after it was originally scheduled for release, the thriller Possession — starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) — is finally coming out on home video, on March 9. The film is a remake of the Korean movie Addicted, about a woman who fears that her comatose husband’s spirit is inhabiting his brother’s body. Check out the trailer, some photos and video clips to pique your interest.

Other recently announced DVD dates include: The Lovely Bones (April 20) and Transylmania (April 27).

Catch It: The Crazies Movie Review

OK, I’ll go ahead and say it: I think that the Crazies remake is better than the original. Not by a whole lot, and I’m not saying that it’s a great movie, but at least it’s very entertaining. Read about what it does well — and not so well — in my review of The Crazies.
