French Zombies Set to Invade in The Horde

Sacre blood! It’s a French zombie movie! IFC Films is preparing to release The Horde next week on Wednesday, August 11, through its on-demand service. The plot revolves around  a group of cops and gangsters who are forced to unite when they find themselves in the midst of a zombie outbreak. Like a lot of people, I’ve largely abandoned network TV, but NBC has just bought a script that has piqued my interest, if only for the title: Zombies vs. Vampires. According to Deadline, it’s a “fun buddy cop” show that’s described as follows:

It seems like an unlikely pairing, but Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the writing team behind the last four Saw films, all three Feast movies and The Collector, have been tapped by MGM to pen an adaptation of the 1960s anthology TV show The Outer Limits. Of course, writing the script doesn’t mean that the movie will actually be made, especially with MGM’s financial troubles of late.

It’s sad that it took over 20 years for a sequel to The Lost Boys to come to fruition, but the folks at Warner Brothers are making up for lost time, with the second Lost Boys film — this one subtitled The Thirst — in the past three years.

Not Quite a Foreclosure: Open House DVD Review

As the DVD cover shows, the main draw of Open House is True Blood stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, but don’t get your hopes up that you’ll see more than five or 10 minutes of either of them on screen. Still, the film, about a visitor to an open house who never leaves, has some interesting moments. Read about them in my review of Open House.

Guillermo del Toro’s next directorial project has been the subject of much speculation for a while, and now Deadline is reporting that the Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth director witll tackle a dream project of his (and of legions of horror readers): H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountians of Madness.
