No doubt spurred by the success of genre shows like The Walking Dead, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries, a host of new horror/suspense TV shows are on tap for the next year or two. Here’s the scoop on the latest casting updates:

Although the “found footage” TV show The River has yet to be cancelled by ABC, its low ratings have the sharks circling. Deadline, which calls the show’s cancellation “a foregone conclusion,” reports that Netflix is looking into possibly picking up the series once the axe falls. The River reportedly appeals to the streaming service because, although its live ratings are weak, the numbers indicate that a healthy number of people record it on DVR to watch at a later date — the kind of people Netflix craves for its streaming format.

Well, Season 2 of The Walking Dead ended with a bang Sunday night, providing about as much action and carnage as the other 12 episodes combined. Despite the stretches if inactivity, though, I found that the entire season — and frankly, the series as a whole — really grew on me. Initially, I tuned in as much out of curiosity as anything, but by the end (truthfully, by the mid-season finale), I found The Walking Dead to be must-see TV. How did you like it?
