The 1984 slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I was open to seeing what the (loose) remake Silent Night could offer. As it turns out, that amounts to not much besides gory kills — granted, depending on who you are, that might be all you need. Read about it in my review of Silent Night.

The found footage movie V/H/S is just hitting DVD and Blu-ray this week, but apparently its previously announced sequel has already been filmed — at least, if the first photos (right) are any indication. Entitled S-VHS, it will premiere next month at the Sundance Film Festival (as its predecessor did), where it hopefully will pick up a distributor. I’d guess Magnet Releasing would be frontrunner, given it handled the first film, and it wouldn’t be a reach to guess it will released in the fall of 2013.

The good news is that the show has been picked up for a full 13 episodes and is set to air next summer. The bad news is that it’s no longer being broadcast on Showtime as previously planned. Instead, it will air on CBS.
