Lionsgate, which has increasingly delved into the limited theatrical/on-demand mode of distribution of late, has slated a horror-comedy called Hellbenders for such a release on October 18 (in 3-D where available). The film, from writer-director J.T. Petty (The Burrowers, Mimic: Sentinel), revolves around the intriguing premise of a team of exorcists who intentionally lead lives of sin in order to become possessed and be sent to Hell, dragging the demon along with them. Think The Exorcist by way of Animal House. Check out the trailer.

British director Neil Marshall, who’s earned a cultish following with films like The Descent, Dog Soldiers and Doomsday, is set to tackle a movie that already has its own cult appeal: Troll Hunter. He has signed on to direct a remake of the 2011 Norwegian “found footage” flick about a group of students who set out to document the existence of trolls.
