Watch Chris Carter’s New Show The After and Vote to Decide Its Fate

X-Files creator Chris Carter hasn't done much non-X-Files-related  for more than a decade, but now he's venturing back into supernatural scripted serial territory -- courtesy of Amazon.com, of all places. The site's fledgling Amazon Studios, which last year produced a pilot for a Zombieland show that never made it to series, has released a pilot for Carter's The After, and like last year's batch of pilots, it's letting YOU the viewer vote for which ones should be made into a full-fledged show.

Long-Delayed Horror Movies Showing Movement: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Odd Thomas, Fear Paris

There have been some exciting updates on three promising but long-delayed horror movies that are in various stages of development:

• Odd Thomas: In the works since 2011, this adaptation of the bestselling Dean Koontz novel about a clairvoyant fry cook was delayed by a lawsuit by producers to recoup money from investors that would've gone towards marketing and distributing the film -- which may or may not have something to do with the fact that it's now getting a very limited theatrical release in the US . At least we won't have to wait much longer; it hits theaters on February 28. Even better: it's on demand...RIGHT NOW! 
• Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Way back in 2009, Natalie Portman was set to star in this adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith mash-up novel, which has since gone through multiple stars and directors, finally settling on actress Lily Collins (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) and filmmaker Burr Steers (Igby Goes Down, Charlie St. Cloud). Now, Dread Central is reporting, somewhat vaguely, that the movie is "just about ready to shoot." So...there's that. I guess only time will tell if that's truly the case.
• Fear Paris: We first heard about plans for this horror anthology, formerly known as Paris I'll Kill You, back in 2010, when an awe-inspiring lineup of genre directors was on board, including Joe Dante, Christopher Smith, Christian Alvart, David R. Ellis, Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, Timo Vuorensola, Paco Plaza and Xavier Gens. Now, sadly, that list seems to have been narrowed down to just Dante, Gens and Vuorensola, although according to Variety, two more will be added. On a positive note, we finally have a teaser trailer, which looks mime-tastic. After more than three years, however, the film is still just in the casting stage, but hopefully the release of the trailer is a sign that things are picking up.
