Brian Cox learns how to make the cut as an apprentice coroner in the horror mystery "The Autopsy of Jane Doe" Brian Cox may be best known for playing unsavory characters - two of his most famous roles are Hannibal "the Cannibal" Lecter , and Big John Harrington, a pederast in "L.I.E." However, in the new mystery/thriller "The Autopsy of Jane Doe," Cox plays Tommy Tilden, a seasoned coroner who encounters some unsavory things. In this engrossing film - and the emphasis, at times, is on gross - Tommy is training his son, Austin to take over the generations-old family business.

As the year 2016 smolders down to ashes, it's anyone's guess what trends will end up defining this decade in terms of horror cinema. Horror movies from prior decades are much easier to categorize with regard to sub-genres prevalent in their day: the Eighties meant sequels and slashers, the Nineties had clever serial killers and irony, and the two thousands gave us torture and remakes.

After years of bad slasher-movie sequels virtually ruined the genre, director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson revitalized it in 1996 with "Scream," which turns 20 this week. But its tongue-in-cheek subject matter about killers and victims who know every movie trope inspired a generation of meta stories across genres.
