‘The Shining’ crew explain why Stanley Kubrick changed ending

Executive producer Jan Harlan and screenwriter Diane Johnson spoke to Entertainment Weekly about why Kubrick decided to go in a different direction for the film version of "The Shining" than the Stephen King novel. King's book came to an end with a clash between Danny and his father Jack against the influence of the Overlook Hotel.

I used to enjoy watching these movies - slick gun-fu action with the lovely Kate Beckinsale kicking ass - but I think I've tired of the series, because I didn't find much enjoyment in watching Blood Wars . The story was pretty boring, and the action sequences weren't particularly interesting - save for the short battle on ice between Selene and Marius.
