Polanski’s 1977 rape victim to attend LA court in bid to end case

The woman whom fugitive movie director Roman Polanski admitted he raped 40 years ago will attend a court hearing in Los Angeles on Friday where she hopes to plead for an end to the case, Polanski's attorney said. Samantha Geimer was 13 years old when Polanski assaulted her in Los Angeles in 1977.

Alabama Theatre’s 2017 summer film series: 18 movies, including Christmas in July

The Alabama Theatre in downtown Birmingham kicks off its 2017 Summer Film Series this weekend with the Alfred Hitchcock thriller "Psycho" on Friday, June 9, and the MGM classic "The Wizard of Oz" on Sunday, June 11. Over the next nine weeks, the nearly 90-year-old Showplace of the South will screen 18 movies, including old favorites such as "Singin' in the Rain" and "Gone with the Wind" and blockbusters such as "Independence Day" and "Ghostbusters." Also, this year, the Alabama will have a "Christmas in July" weekend with holiday favorites "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," "White Christmas" and "Elf."

Murder, She Wrote’s Dame Angela Lansbury to receive lifetime achievement award

The Murder, She Wrote star will be presented with the prize at the 56th Rose d'Or award ceremony, organised by the European Broadcasting Union , in Berlin on September 19. The award recognises those who have made an outstanding contribution to entertainment throughout their careers and previous recipients include John Cleese and Stephen Fry. She said of the prize: "I'm honoured to be coming to Berlin in September, for the first time in my life, to receive this most coveted award, the Rose d'Or.

Of all the CGI-ed supernatural forces slung in Alex Kurtzman's "The Mummy" , none can compete with the spectral spectacle of Tom Cruise, at 54. He and his abs are almost creepily ageless. So it's almost fitting that in one of the typically bonkers scenes in "The Mummy," Cruise awakes naked and unscathed alongside cadavers in a morgue, where he bewilderedly removes the tag attached to his toe.

‘Dawn of the Dead’ cast, fans to return to Monroeville Mall

In 1978, Monroeville Mall hosted the filming of the cult zombie classic, "Dawn of the Dead," and made the mall a mecca for horror fans. The undead and their fans will flock back to Monroeville Mall this weekend, hosting a cast reunion and other movie-related activities Friday, Saturday and Sunday as part of Living Dead Weekend.
