Slasher legends Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Leatherface have come together for the ultimate maze attraction, dubbed Titans of Terror, for Universal Studios annual Halloween Horror Nights, which kicks off Friday, Sept. 15, and runs on select nights through Saturday, Nov. 4. As Leatherface wields his chainsaw, Voorhees will be silently stalking guests and swinging his machete and Krueger , with his glove equipped with razor sharp fingers, will have patrons wondering if they're awake or in the middle of a nightmare.

Barbara Cook, whose shimmering soprano made her one of Broadway's leading ingenues and later a major cabaret and concert interpreter of popular American song, has died. She was 89. Cook died early Tuesday of respiratory failure at her home in Manhattan, surrounded by family and friends, according to publicist Amanda Kaus.

And the substance has young scientists in Bolton asking a bizarre question: Is it smarter than us? And the work of pupils at Bolton School led by biology teacher David Teasdale and Dutch teacher Hans Mulder has been highly commended at the prestigious International Science of Stage Festival.
